How to Make a Spool Snowman Ornament

This spool snowman ornament is a cute little addition to any Christmas tree. This project is super simple and gives a little personality to your Holiday decorations

Things you will need:

1 Mini Wooden Spool

3 Small Wooden Spools

White Paint

Black Paint

Orange Paint

Paint brush

Red Satin Cord

Scrap of Felt

2 Sandwich bag ties

Step 1:

To make a spool snowman ornament you will first need to start by painting three small wooden spools white and one mini wooden spool black. Allow the spools to dry completely before moving to the next step.

Step 2

Once the paint is dry you will need to paint two “buttons” on one of your white spools. Just inside of the spool lip, one right on top of the other. On the second white spool you will paint one “button” right under one of the lips.

Step 3

On the final White Spool you will need to paint a face for the snowman. Start by painting two black dots for eyes. Just under the eyes paint an orange triangle to form the carrot nose. Now under the carrot nose you will paint several dots to make the coal smile. Once you have the face painted on your Spool Snowman Ornament you will need to paint the top lip of the spool black. This will make the rim of the Snowman’s hat.

Step 4

Using a piece of red satin ribbon rope, found in most craft stores, you will need to lace the spools on the ribbon. The ribbon should be doubled in each of the spools so that there is a loop on one end of the spools above the snowman’s hat and two ends at the bottom of the snowman. The easiest way to do this is tape the two ends of the ribbon together and lace them through the spools at the same time.

Step 5

Now you will tie the loose ends of ribbon in a knot to hold the spools in place. I also like to add a knot at the top of the snowman to keep the spools from falling off the ornament.

Step 6

Using a small scrap of felt make a scarf for the snowman by gluing it around the bottom of the first large spool. Just under the snowman’s face.

Step 7

Use a couple of brown or black sandwich or trash bag ties to make hands for your Spool Snowman Ornament. Just do several fan type folds on one end to form the “fingers” and glue the other end between the first and second large spools, just under the scarf.

Step 8

Use the hanger to hang your Spool Snowman Ornament from your tree.
