Info:

To have a successful website you first need to know a little bit about search engine optimization (SEO). Knowing what SEO is and how it affects your website will help you create a great website and generate more traffic to that site. Many websites are full of great information but will end up at the bottom of the search engine results if it is not set up properly. O

nce you know a little bit about Page Rank, Algorithms Link Popularity, Key Word Phrase, and Site structure you can create a website that will be have a high traffic volume. Below are a few of the things you should know in order to create a website that will have lots of traffic and a brief explanation of what that means in regards to your website.

Step 1:

Website Page Ranking

Every website it ranked against other websites to see how valuable your website is. This ranking is done by Google and is measured in a scale of 0 to 10. The average site will get a ranking of 3 – 4. Many factors are taken into consideration when your site is ranked like the content and the number of links pointing to your site.

You can check the ranking of any website by downloading the Google Toolbar.

Step 2

 Website ranking algorithm

A website ranking algorithm is basically a formula. This formula is used to rank your site based on several different things. It uses this algorithm or formula to show websites that are relevant to the search that was entered into the search engine. Using the algorithm or formula a search engine will look at your websites content, keywords and the links to your website; it will then take this information and calculate your position on the search results page. The more relevant your site is to the search entry the higher you results will be on the results page. Website ranking algorithms are constantly being changed to make sure the most relevant results are always on top so a website that’s on top one day can drop significantly the next for no apparent reason.

Step 3

Websites One Way Link Rate

Search engines will determine the number of one way links to a site and use that number to validate the website as a good source of relevant information. The more sites that consider your website to be a good and relevant source of information, and link to you, the more Google and the other search engines will think so too! You should keep in mind this is only relevant for one way links; there are reciprocal links that can be harmful to your website. These are usually created when someone links to a website and that website is then linked back to the original website. Search engines have realized people will try to get as many links as possible in hopes this will make their website rank better, therefore search engines no longer count these as valid links to a website. More often than not a reciprocal link will cause your website to rank lower on the results page. The best links are always one way links from a relevant website to your website.

Step 4

Website keywords and keyword phrases

Key words are words you use to describe your website. These are the words you would expect someone to put into a search engine if they were looking for your website. These can be either a single word or group of words. Most single keywords have be used excessively since the beginning of the internet and websites so keyword phrases are usually a better way to advertise your website. Using keyword phrases gives the person doing the search the ability to be more specific about what they are looking for. It also allows you to list your website and website pages more specifically so people looking for the information you are providing will find it.

Step 5

Website structure

Your website structure is basically the way your website is laid out. This will take into consideration the organization of the website, how the pages are linked together and the menu options. It is important to have a well designed website so people can navigate it easily and find the information they are looking for. This is also taken into consideration for the search engine rankings, if people can’t find what they are looking for how will a search engine? A well structured site will have all similar pages linked together, when a search engine looks at your website and links to another page with more useful and relevant information it looks at it the same as a one way link and rates it accordingly.
