Intro: Would you like to carry your beverage or water with you in a food safe container?  If yes, then recycle glass jars into beverage containers. Not only will you save money on drinks, you won’t need to buy expensive beverage containers either. You won’t have to worry about the dangers of plastic, and they will wash easily in your dishwasher.  The jars with lids that have a seal inside work best. Any jars you don’t need can be used for other storage or recycled. Step 1: Select glass jars that are the size you would like to carry. Step 2: Check to see if they fit in your vehicle cup holder. If you like, you can drill a hole in the lid for a straw. Step 3: Clean jars. If you have trouble removing the label, due to the glue, soak it in warm water, and scrape it with a pot scrubber. If you still have some glue residue, put peanut butter on a paper towel, and scrub the remaining residue away. It is now ready for the dishwasher. Step 4: Make your favorite beverage (ice tea, ice coffee, lemonade, etc.). Add ice, and you’re on your way. To prevent your beverage container from being slippery, place several sturdy rubber bands around the jar, and you are set to go. Step 5: Save many jars, so they can be rotated. Tips: Craft some type of cozy for your jars. This is a good project for leftover yarn and material scraps. You can knit, crochet, or stitch one.  A cozy will also keep your jar from being slippery when it sweats. It will also allow you to use it for hot drinks, and protect your hands from the heat. This makes a cute idea for gifts; think monograms on cozies. Warning: All your green friends will want you to recycle glass jars into beverage containers for them.

... We used to buy a specific jelly brand when I was a kid because we loved to use the jar as cups. It had a nice solid handle, so it was easy to carry. |

... Personally, I have glasses for show, but I still use jars for beverages all the time, even the unattractive one. This is a good way to recycle. Thanks for sharing. |
