How to Select the Best Anti-Virus Software for You

The myth of Mr. or Ms. Right has struck the wonderful world of computers. The myth simply stated is that there is somebody the right just for me. The truth of the matter is that nobody is born just for somebody else.

This is also the case in the computer world. There are no computers, bare custom made computers, are made just for somebody else. So when you search for the right computer you are truly searching for the computer that works best for you and your needs. This is the case when trying to find an anti-virus solution. And, finding what anti-virus solution is best for you takes a little time and thought.

1.Before looking at any specific anti-virus solution, you may want to check out your budget first. Anti-virus solutions prices run from free (not always the best choice) to hundreds of dollars per year.

Note: A quick note of the free anti-virus solution, if you are in the Comcast viewing
area and Comcast is your isp, then they offer McAfee Anti-virus Solution free to
its customers.

2.If your budget cannot make room for an anti-virus solution on your computer, then several of the ant-virus companies free web-based scanners. With these scanners, a small piece of coding is placed on your computer to interface with the website and your computer is then scanned. This is not a bad deal except it lacks any preventive measures.

3.Also many of the anti-virus solution companies offer a free trial period, usually between 30-60 days. Take advantage of these trial periods to see which solution works best for your needs.

4.Many anti-virus solutions have additional features that may save you the trouble of acquiring additional software. Some of the additional features are firewall, anti-spyware, and anti-adware.

5.Now just a few suggestions:

McAfee at http://www.mcafee.com/us/

Norton at http://www.symantec.com/index.jsp

Trend Micro at http://us.trendmicro.com/us

Zone Alarm at http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/home.htm?lid=en-us

Panda Security at http://www.pandasecurity.com/usa/

These are just a few that I have tried while in the Microsoft Windows World

Note: Virus are found on MacOS-based and Unix/Linux-based systems. They are just not as numerous as in Microsoft Windows.
