Whether your child wants to dress up as a bunny for Halloween, you are planning an Easter shin dig, or you have a penchant for Beatrix Potter books, making a bunny ears headband is a simple and inexpensive activity that can be completed in a short amount of time with just a few supplies found at your local craft store. Once you see how fast and easy it is, you’ll have a whole house full of bunnies hopping around! Supplies needed for the bunny ears headband: Plastic headband Felt the color of the bunny you want to create Scissors Two lightweight metal hangers Pliers Fur-like material the same color as the felt Pink fur-like material Fabric glue
To make the bunny ears headband: Step #1: Cut out the amount of felt needed to wrap around the headband. Step #2 Wrap the felt around the headband, securing with glue. Step #3 Untwist the hangers so that they are each one long piece of metal. Step #4 Shape the hangers into the desired bunny ear shape. Step #5 Cut any excess hanger wire with the pliers, leaving enough wire so that the ears can be attached to the headband. Step #6 Cut out the amount of fur material to completely cover the hangers. Secure with glue. Step #7 Cut out some pink fur for the insides of the ears and glue them to the already formed ears. Step #8 Attach the ears to the headband by twisting the excess wires around it after the glue on the fabric has dried. Step #9 Bend the ears forward to give the ears a bit more realistic look. Tips: When you twist the excess wire around the headband, make sure to have the ends of the twisted wire rest on top of the headband to avoid being poked by the hanger wire. If you want to make white bunny ears, use white fur material with pink fur material for the inside of the ears. Craft stores also carry brown fur material if you are trying to make a brown bunny. It is important to find the lightest weight wire hangers possible. Otherwise, the ears will be too heavy and will not stand up straight on the headband. Photo Credit: peterastn
