Scarecrows are great at Halloween. Have you ever thought of setting up a scarecrow family and dressing up as one of them? It is a great way to have a little fun and scare the neighbors. This can be a fun and inexpensive way to decorate for Halloween and give one of the best scares of the night.

First decided on what kind of a family of scarecrow would you like to have. You can have as many kids or adult scarecrows as you wish. If you are planing to join the scarecrows on Halloween plan to make a scarecrow look like you, at least with the same height and colored clothes.

Second collect any old clothes around the house or go to a local thrift store. Each scarecrow will need pants, 2 shirts, 2 work gloves, and 2 shoes.

The clothes do not have to match. You can add more clothing if you wish like a hat or belt.

You will also need something to tie the ends of the clothes shut. You can use twine, sting, yarn, or ribbon to tie around the ends of the clothes.

If you wish the the scarecrows to stand, you will need something hard like a broom stick or pole to place firmly in the ground. The scarecows can then be tied to the poles.

Tip: For the following steps if you run out of leaves you can also fill the scarecrows with shopping or trash bags.

For the pants: tie the end of the legs shut. Fill the pants with leaves. No need to tie off the top or waist of the pants as we will be putting the top of the scarecrow right on top of the pants.

Next take one of the shirts and tie off the neck hole. Tie the arms over the neck hole. Fill with leaves to desired size. This will now make the head. Fill the shirt as round as you would like. Do not competently fill this shirt. Place a tie where the head stops. Allow the rest of the shirt to hang down.

Take the second shirt. Tie off the ends of the arms. Lay the shirt out on the ground. Put the head on. Stuff the extra shirt of the head into the neck hole. From the waist fill with leaves. The leaves should be pack tightly so it can hold the head in place. Fill the shirt full of leaves but leave some room at the waist to put the pant into.

If the head seems too heavy or loose after the shirt is filled, you could use safety pin to help hold the head in place.

Now pull the pant into the shirt and tie.

Fill the glove a little with leaves and tie onto the arms of the scarecrow.

Fill the shoes with leaves and place at the scarecrow's feet.

Draw a face if you wish and the scarecrow is done. Continue the steps until your family of scarecrows is done.

If you decided to join the scarecrow family on Halloween, just dress up like one of the scarecrows. Then when people get close and are unsuspecting, say something or move. I know they will get a big scare out of you.
