Making an Easy Tin Foil dinner is a very easy recipe. The recipe is easy to make and clean up is even easier. The best part about this Easy Tin Foil dinner is it can be cooked almost anywhere. You can bake it in the oven, cook it over a fire or on the grill. Clean up is a snap after you take or eat the food off the tin foil and then just throw away the tin foil. Plus each person can have their own tin foil meal. So everyone can easily customize what they want in their dinner.
Supplies Needed: Meat. Hamburger is mostly used but you can you stew meat as well. Vegetables. Carrots, Onions, and Potatoes. Tin foil Ketchup Salt Pepper Butter
Step 1
Prepare the foods for cooking:
Cut the potatoes into smaller pieces. You can slice the potatoes or cube them. Remember the thinner the potatoes the faster it will cook, thinker potatoes will take longer.
Cut the carrots in to about two to three inches long. You can also skip this if you buy a bag of baby carrots.
Cut the onion into small pieces.
Step 2
Lay out the tin foil. You will want one large piece of tin foil per person. The tin foil need to be large enough to cover the entire meal. If your cooking over a camp fire put two layer of tin foil down. This will help prevent any burns or scorching.
Step 3
Lay the food onto the tin foil. You can easily add more or less depending on the taste buds and appetite of each person.
First lay the potatoes down on the tin foil, then crumble the hamburger (or add the stew meat). Put the carrots and onions on top.
Add salt and pepper lightly over the food. Adding salt and pepper now will help in the cooking process. Potatoes cook faster when sprinkled with salt.
Step 4
Fold the tin foil in a ball with the food enclosed in the middle. If you accidentally made the pile of food too large, add another sheet of tin foil.
Note: The more tin foil around the food, the longer the food will take to cook.
Step 5
Cook as desired:
One in a half hours at about 350 degrees in an oven.
Forty five minutes on a Grill on medium heat.
or
Over or next to the fire. The time it take to cook over the fire will depend on how clothes and how hot of a fire your have. Best to check the food after twenty minutes.
Step 6
Open one of the tin foil dinner to check the doneness. The dinner is done when the potatoes are soft and the meat is brown. Remove from heat when done.
Step 7
Eat out off the tin foil or place on a plate or bowl. Top with salt, pepper, ketchup and/or butter.
Kids may like to have the food separated on a plate. But that should be easy to do, just dump the tin foil food onto a plate. Move the food around with a fork.
Tip: May be a good idea to make one extra in case someone is still hungry.
