With today’s technology in our day and time it is easy to just come home from work and sit down and be a couch potato and watch TV while our teenagers are in their rooms playing video games or listening to the mp3 players or texting and talking to their friends and even though they are being interactive they aren’t being proactive. So now is the time to start teaching your young adults about some proactive things that they can get involved in to learn about life experiences.

Our city has programs for young adults to get involved with that teach young adults skills and life experiences and I am sure your city has similar programs.

Step1- The Mobile Fire Rescue Department Explorer Program is a program for young boys and girls from age 14 to age 21. This program teaches team work and is involved in competitions and teaches real life experiences like respect and work ethics. The City of Mobile web site is http://cityofmobile.org/fire/

Step 2- The Girl Scouts Of America program teaches young adult girls team work and is involved in competitions and teaches real life experiences like respect, and work ethics. The girl scouts web site is http://www.girlscouts.org/

Step 3- The Boy Scouts Of America This program teaches team work and is involved in competitions and teaches real life experiences like respect and work ethics. I was involved in this program when I was young and learned many things. I stayed in the program for many years and was taught how to swim at one of the jamborees it was experiences like this and many other learning experiences that I still remember today. The boy scouts web site is http://www.scouting.org/

Step 4- Habitat for Humanity is another great organization that helps build houses for people that are in need. Young adults must be older than 16 to be a part of this program. The Habitat for Humanity web site is http://www.habitat.org/
