How to Save Money And Water At Home |

Conserving water is both good for the environment and our pocketbooks. Try some of the following ideas to reduce water usage you use at home without emptying your pocketbook. 1. Cut down on the length of your shower time. Set a timer in the bathroom to five minutes. By cutting your shower time down you can save twenty gallons of water instead of taking a ten minute shower which uses forty gallons. Install low flow shower heads available at your local hardware store. 2. Purchase a low flow toilet. Check to make sure your toilet is not leaking. Thousands of gallons of water can be wasted from a leaking toilet. Minimize the amount of water your toilet uses with each flush by placing a plastic soda bottle filled with gravel in your toilet tank. The soda bottle will replace the water your toilet uses each time it flushes. 3. Only run your dishwasher or do laundry with full loads. Cook and serve your food while using the same pots and pans for different cooking tasks. Tips: Try to diagnose a leaking problem yourself before calling a plumber which could be costly.
