How to Protect Your Child from Swine Flu at SchoolIntro: With schools getting ready to open the doors, it is important that parents start thinking about how to protect your children. Over 1 million people have been infected in the United States, so taking time to make a few changes and take a few precautions is more important now than ever.

1. Keep up on the local and national news. They are working on developing a vaccine and although it may not be available just now, it should be soon.

2. Keep Kleenex of some type in your child's backpack. They need to cover their nose or cough into their arm to prevent the spread of germs.

3.Have you child use hand sanitizer and teach them to wash their hands after every trip to the restroom. Teaching proper hand washing is important as well. It should with warm water, amount of soap equal to about the size of a dime, and for the length of time you can say your ABC's.

4.Keep your child home if they are sick. I know this is difficult sometimes, but you would want someone else to offer the same courtesy. Preventing the spread of the virus is the ultimate defense.
