Stress is known to cause a flare up with psoriasis. Be sure to try and avoid it. Exercise often to release natural hormones that fight stress.
Use creams and moisturizers to moisten the skin. There are some available over the counter, or you can talk to your doctor.
Get some sun. Sunlight has been shown to minimize the effects of an outbreak. Also, UVB or brief exposures to ultraviolet light such as ultraviolet B light have been shown to help.
Avoid alcohol intake. It can cause a skin irritation and flare up by dehydrating the body.
Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Visit your physician and check into taking Vitamin D, corticosteroids, and retinoids.
If you find something causes a flare up, avoid it.
