How to Cook Sauerkraut Hungarian Style

INTRODUCTION

This recipe tells how to cook sauerkraut, or authentic "Dinsztelt Savanyu Kaposzta," which is Hungarian for "braised sauerkraut." This superb side dish is typically served with hamburgers or pork.

Depending on where you live, fresh sauerkraut can be found in local specialty shops. Sauerkraut in a jar (try to look for one with added salt only; rinse before using) can be used, but shorten the cooking time a little.

If you have never had it before, try a bite, and you will be craving for more. Why not double the recipe, and save some in the freezer for another day.

1/4 tsp paprika

Step 3 - Add pepper and paprika.

Step 4 - Cook until soft.

Step 5 - Add sauerkraut. cook 10 minutes, stirring constantly.

Step 6 - Serve with hamburgers or fried pork butts.
