Calmly I sat on my rocking chair rocking myself back and forth waiting for the big yellow school bus to round the corner. As it did, I would violently regurgitate the small portion of bean and eggs my mom had fed me earlier that morning.

Quickly, I'd fix myself up removing the vomit that had landed on my shoes . My mother, then, would suggest dropping me off, but I would bravely deny her offer, confront my fear and run off to meet the bus.

I was terrified of that yellow bus because yellow bus meant arriving at school where there were hundreds of people. This went on for longer than I wanted to, but I finally managed to control my social anxiety and this is how.

1. Courage takes you a long way. Choose to confront your fear. Don't give your anxiety complete power over you. Remember, you control your life's choices. You have the power over how situations in your life impact you.

2.Get mentally set. Whatever it is you are fearing, rehearse it in your head.Encourage yourself to try new things and confront intimidating situations. You just need to take that first step out of your comfort zone.

3.Approach whoever you're most comfortable with. You'll need moral support to confront this ,so make friends with whoever you believe will help you most.

4.Don't give in to wanting to hide under a rock. Continue confronting your fear one day at a time. You'll be free of this anxiety before you know it.
