Step 1
Try not to run of a full stomach.
Don't over eat, then run. It's okay to not run on a completely empty stomach. But don't eat something and then decide to go out and run. Bad idea, which will provide cramps.

Step 2
Make sure you don't over drink.
It's okay to drink water, but don't drink too much. If you drink tons of water before you run, you'll probably cramp up. But it's okay to drink some water so you don't feel dehydrated. Especially if it's really hot, drink water.

Step 3
Make sure you stretch.
This is something a lot of people don't do and sometimes they regret it. Stretch very well before running. So you can avoid pulling something. So your muscles feel loose and not so tight.

Step 4
Make sure your joints are loose.
When running, don't run with a closed fist. I actually think this tightens up your muscles. Try running with an open fist.

Step 5
Make sure you're breathing properly
When breathing, slowly breath in and out, to maintain not being so out of breath. Gives you more oxygen.

Step 6
Make sure you feel light like a feather.
When running, try to make sure every part of you feels relaxed and loose. Don't over do it.

Step 7
Make sure you pace yourself.
Don't start sprinting or jogging out of the gate and use all your energy. Hold it back and develop your running rhythm.

Step 8
Make sure you know your running limits.
Don't try to do more than you can. Try to set a goal, though. Like say you run around 3 blocks, or a mile. Next time, you'll push to 4 blocks, or a mile and a half. Don't over do it, but it's okay to slowly add more distance on, if you want to do more.

Step 9
Make sure you have the proper shoes.
Find the kind of proper running shoes, that make you feel comfortable when running. Go to your local foot wear store, ask advice on the proper running shoes. Try some on to get the kind of shoes that will make you comfortable. Shoe wear is important.

Step 10
Try not to smoke.
If you do, it's going to be hard to catch your breath. But don't smoke anywhere near, before running. Otherwise you'll be out of breath quite soon.
