changes at Disney World

Planning for a vacation to Disney World usually starts early. The best flights, deals, rooms, and advanced dining reservations typically go fast. It can be very frustrating to plan trip very carefully only to find out that the main pool at your resort will be closed for the length of your stay. Half the reason you chose this resort was the pool since you planned to skip the parks and enjoy your home resort this trip for two full days. More disappointing is when you arrive at your resort to find out the news about the pool closure.

It is much better to be informed about the latest announcements from Disney World up until the time you leave for your vacation. Needed changes can then be made to your itinerary through your travel agent or through a Disney agent prior to your arrival. Spending your vacation time making changes is the last thing you need.

Step 1: Go to the source disneyworld at www.disney.go.com. Information about closures, rehabs, and schedules can be found on the Disney website. You can also enter your email address and receive Disney updates and news directly from Disney. The information will be accurate and usually major closures and rehabs are announced in a timely manner.

Step 2: Disney podcasts are a great source of information regarding scheduled and rumored changes coming to the Walt Disney World Resort. The most popular podcast is www.wdwradio.com, hosted by Lou Mongello. Mr. Mongello produces a weekly (posted every Sunday) podcast dedicated to Walt Disney World. Each, week the podcast covers all scheduled and rumored changes to anything and everything on Disney property in Florida. This podcast will cover much more than the major closures and rehabs. If you are a frequent guest, he has information on changes in menus etc. that could effect how you planned your trip. The best thing is, you can download or RSS feed the podcast to your computer, tivo, or Ipod and listen to the information while you do other things.

Step 3 There are other websites that cater to Disney guests. One such website, allears.net, keeps current information on closures, rehabs, and many other things that may have an impact to your Disney experience. Another great source of information on this site is the trip reports, posted by people just returning from a Disney vacation.

Step 4 Talk to friends, co-workers, or family members who may have recently visited Walt Disney World. Getting a recent trip report may be very helpful from someone you trust.

Tip: Do not promise your kids they will be able to go to specific attractions since you will not know for sure until you are there.

Try to keep up to date with Disney news before you leave for your trip so you will not have unexpected problems.
