How to Prevent an Intruder From Entering Your Home

There are several ways to ensure safety from intruders and protect our family.

One way to lower the risk of an intruder coming into your house is the most obvious and that is to always lock the door when leaving and after entering your home. Teach your children this rule at a young age and it will be like second nature to them.

If you have windows that are easily accessible, make sure you shut and lock them before going to bed or leaving to go somewhere. Some people forget to lock their basement windows and criminals know this. Another way to feel safe is to put your car keys on a night stand near your bed. If you hear a strange noise or it sounds like an intruder is trying to enter your home, press the panic button for your car alarm and odds are it will scare off somebody trying to break in.

Even if your car is in the garage, driveway or parked on the streets, sounding the panic button will get the attention of neighbors and they will look out their windows, turn on their porch light, or come outside to see where the noise is coming from, and this should scare off any intruders. Always keep an outside light on, whether it is a porch light, solar lights, or motion lights.
