Many people who own cell phones has had this experience of their cell phone going through the washing machine. Well, if you do these simple steps, you may be able to save it.

Step 1:

Get it out of the washer as soon as you know it is in there. Do not let it go through the dryer.

Step 2:

Open up the cell phone immediately. Take the battery out of it and if it has a sim card, take it out too.

Step 3:

Put all the pieces of the cell phone into a bowl of dry rice. Completely cover it with the dry rice. Leave it in the dry rice for 3-4 days. The dry rice should help draw the water out of the cell phone.

Step 4:

After 3-4 days, if the screen is not foggy, and the cell phone seems dry, you should be able to put it back together and turn it on to see if it works.

Warnings:

Do not turn on the phone until the cell phone is dried out. This can cause irreversible damage.

If the screen is foggy after being in the rice, do not turn it on, call the cell phone manufacturer to see how to proceed.

I wish I had read this article last week. I washed my husbands phone and ended up donating it, as I thought there was no way to save it. Great article Lynn with useful tips.
