Intro: Business can use twitter to market themselves to current and new customers. Follow these steps to use Twitter to market your business.  Step 1: To market a business using Twitter, you will need to sign up for an account with Twitter. Try to make your account page look like this: www.twitter.com/yourbusinessname  Step 2: Once you have account, you will need to get followers. Followers are very important and can help you market your business successfully.  Step 3: Getting followers on Twitter can be as simple as following people you know and getting them to follow you back. You should aggressively search for people with similar interests as your company using the Twitter search and follow these people.  About 30-40 percent of the people you follow will follow you back. You can bulk unfollow the people who don’t follow you with some special Twitter tools many websites offer.  Step 4: You can market a contest and for entrants to be eligible to win a prize, they must follow your company on Twitter. This is probably the most popular way to get a massive amount of followers in a very short time.  Step 5: Now that you have followers, you can start to participate in the community around your Twitter page. Post messages and tweets about your company and products.  It is also a good idea to post catchy headlines with links to funny stories about your company and employees.  Step 6: To use Twitter to market your business, you will have to talk about other things besides your business in order to keep your followers entertained. If you talk too much about yourself, your followers will tune you out or unfollow you.  Step 7: Use the Twitter search to market your business. You can search for people who are tweeting about your company, products, services, and competitors. You can gauge consumer’s opinions about your business while keeping a close eye on the competition.  Step 8: Twitter is a great way to drive some extra traffic to your website. You should post a catchy story on your website or blog and then tweet about it. Ask anyone who likes it to please re-tweet it to their followers. If you have thousands of followers, you can usually get a boost in traffic and hopefully a boost in revenue.  Tips: Tweet often.  Pay attention to your followers tweets.  Check your @replies to see if anyone is directing messages towards you.  Warnings: Don’t let Twitter be a substitute for your current business marketing strategies. It should be used in addition to your already set in place strategies.
