Intro: Twitter is not only used for networking with your friends but networking with other business professionals. Follow these steps to use Twitter for networking.  Step 1: First, you must sign up for a Twitter account. If you are signing up for a business, your Twitter name should be www.twitter.com/yourbusiness.  Step 2: To use Twitter for networking, you need some followers to network to. The best way to get followers is to find all of your friends and family members on Twitter. Let them know you are on Twitter by following them. They should follow you back.  Step 3: Now that you have some followers, you should try to get even more. A common and popular way to get more followers on Twitter is by giving something away for free.  For example, everyone that follows you gets an entry into a giveaway or everyone that follows you gets a free e-book.  Step 4: You can now start to use Twitter for networking. A great way to network is by posting messages or “tweets” about yourself, company, and/or products. Being an active Twitter member will keep your followers interested.  Step 5: Avoid talking about yourself too much. This may cause your followers to be annoyed and they may not pay attention to what you say anymore.  Step 6: One of the best features for networking on Twitter is the Twitter search. On the Twitter search, you can find people who are talking about you, your company, your products, and your competition. You can direct message these people or add them to your following list.  Step 7: Find people who are discussing things relevant to you or your company. You have the option of contacting them or just gathering their opinion as a form of market research.  Tips: To use Twitter for networking, you will need to build your followers list.  Try running a contest or giveaway to attract followers.  Decorate your background with company logos and colors.  Warnings: Don’t let Twitter consume too much of your time.
