Water fasting is a healthy, natural successful way of losing weight and purging your body of unwanted chemicals and toxins. However, it can be hard, stressful and dangerous, if not done properly.
Step 1: For up to one week, reduce the amount of food you consume. To elaborate, remove alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, fast food, white sugar etc. This will allow your body to become accustomed to less food and still function.
Step 2: Start juice fasting. Remove all solid foods from your diet and drink only pure fruit and vegetable juice. Doing this will aid in weight loss and begin the detoxification process in your body.
Step 3: Drink only pure filtered water. This step is the easiest to do and the hardest to maintain. If you have a water filter, that is great. If not, try either buying one or buying purified water by the gallon.
Step 4: Drink at least one gallon of water a day minimum, more if you are overweight.
Step 5: In order to maximize weight loss and detoxification during a water fast, it is best to do at least five miles of walking per day and yoga and stretching as often as possible.
Note: While it is important to decrease activity level , maintaining activity is important for any human. However, if you feel too tired or cannot are seriously overweight and cannot perform this exercise, only do as much as you can.
Step 6: Ending a water fast is as important as starting it. Do steps one and two in reverse. Begin by do a juice fast for one day for every four days you water fast. Then slowly increase the amount of food you intake until you are at a stable level.
NOTE: For most people who perform an extended fast, eating a lot afterwards is often undesirable and can be dangerous. As you fast your digestive organs will shrink and eating will not be as tempting.
