How to Increase Fuel Efficiency

Intro: Increase fuel efficiency with these simple, practical tips.

Step 1: Make sure your tires a properly inflated. This can give your a 3 percent increase in gas mileage.

Step 2: Catch a ride with someone else!

Step 3: Replace your air filter if it is dirty. This can be a major drain on gas mileage.

Step 4: Do an overall routine check up on your car to make sure everything is working properly. A tuned up car can improve gas mileage dramatically.

Step 5: Riding the brake and/or gas can decrease gas mileage. A steady foot on the gas pedal can increase fuel efficiency. Cruise control can keep the pedal steady on the highway.

Step 6: Air conditioning causes your auto to use more gasoline so try just rolling down the windows.

Step 7: The more weight in your car the worst gas mileage is. Don't keep things in the trunk that don't need to be there.

Step 8: Don't accelerate up to a red light or stop sign. Coast up and let the car slow down naturally. Less braking and less acceleration in these constant situations will really add up to better fuel efficiency.
