How to Choose a Hotel

Intro: Choosing a hotel can be a difficult task since you may be unfamiliar with the particular city, state, or country you are going to. Follow these steps to choose a hotel.

Step 1: To choose a hotel, you must do the research. You can find hotel prices and packages online at many websites, such as cheaptickets.com, hotwire.com, kayak.com, Travelocity.com, expedia.com, and lastminute.com.

Step 2: At these websites, you can enter the dates you are looking to stay and they will generate a list of hotels in the area with available rooms. Take a look at all the hotels available and start comparing prices and reading reviews. Reading online reviews can be very beneficial in finding out first hand customer experiences.

Step 3: To choose a hotel, decide on what you want from the hotel. Many people get normal single rooms while some prefer the more expensive suites. Is a pool a must have? Need a hot tub? I suggest you make a list of the top 5 things you need from your hotel.

Step 4: After looking through all of the hotels you found online, see which hotels in your price range have the most amount of features on your top 5 list. The hotel with the best bang for your buck should be clear now.

Step 5: Before choosing a hotel, check to see if your hotel is close to the destination you want to visit or you will pay a lot in cab fares. Find out if there is a continental breakfast at the hotel. All of these little costs could make a more expensive hotel quite a bit cheaper.

Step 6: To choose a hotel and book the room, call the hotel before you book it online. Find out what their price is without even mentioning the online price because it could be cheaper! Also, ask them about Triple A or AARP discounts. Once you get the cheapest price possible, book the room.

Tips: To choose a hotel, research the hotels online, read reviews, and make an informed decision.

Warnings: Always find out about cancellation policies in case you do not like the hotel once you get there.
