Intro: If you are baking vegan pies then you must also have a vegan pie crust! Follow these steps to learn how to make this homemade crust.

Step 1: Gather the ingredients. For this pie crust, you will need ¼ cup cold water, ¾ cup solid vegetable shortening, 1 teaspoon salt, and 2 cups of all-purpose unbleached flour.

Step 2: Add the salt and flour to a bowl and stir together. Take 1/3 cup of this mixture and mix it with the water. Set the water/flour mix aside for now.

Step 3: Using a fork, add the vegetable shortening to the remaining flour mixture until you create a bumpy texture. Now add the flour/water mixture. Mix these ingredients together until you create a ball. Split the ball into two parts.

Step 4: Flour your rolling surface and pin. Roll out one portion of the pie dough at a time. You should roll from the center outwards. Make the pie dough 2-3 inches larger than your pie pan.

Step 5: Once rolled out, work it into your pie pan. Cut off the access pie dough and enjoy your vegan pie crust.

Tips: Add a vegan pie filling to finish off your vegan pie crust.
