How to Make an Apple Pie

Intro: Apple pie is an American classic which has been a traditional dessert for many years. Follow these steps to learn how to make an apple pie.

Step 1: Gather the ingredients. You will need 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1/3 cup of light brown sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, 8 cups of apples, some milk, and a dash of sugar to add to the top of the pie crust.

Step 2: Your oven will need to be preheated to 425 degrees F.

Step 3: Add cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, cornstarch, and sugars to a bowl and mix well.

Step 4: Sprinkle sugar over your apple slices and toss carefully in a bowl. Let your apple sit for a few minutes.

Step 5: Get your pie crust ready. If you made your own, make sure you leave a half inch hanging over the edge of the pie pan.

Step 6: Mix the apple slices and cinnamon mixture together and place in your pie pan. Place the top pastry crust over the pie and allow for a 1 inch overhang. Squeeze around the edge of the pie to seal the top and bottom crusts.

Step 7: Slice slits into the top of your pie to allow steam to escape and to give your pie a decorative look. Sprinkle some sugar on top of the pie and place the pie in the oven.

Step 8: Bake at 425 degrees F for 40 minutes. The apple should be tender and the crust should look crispy. Serve your apple pie with some whipped cream and enjoy!

Tips: Instead of whip cream, try putting a little ice cream on top of your warm homemade apple pie.

Warnings: Your apple pie will be very hot when removing it from the oven. Use oven mitts and let the pie cool off before serving.
