Intro: Do you want to get good grades in college? Well this article is going to teach you how to be successful in college.  Step 1: When signing up for classes, don’t overload yourself. The norm is fifteen credits but if you can’t handle it, don’t be afraid to take less.  Step 2: Textbook. If the book is required, buy it. The teacher usually will have assigned reading for you to do. Personally I find reading a million pages to be useless because I don’t retain any information. If you’re like me, try this; after class skim the areas in the text that the teacher talked about. This will help reinforce the information you just learned.  Step 3: Go to class, especially if attendance is mandatory. Some teachers give points for just showing up. If your grade is border-line then those points could really be beneficial. College is expensive and if you don’t go then you are just wasting your money.  Step 4: Take notes, even if the teacher does not write anything on the board. It is almost a guarantee you will see it on an exam. A lot of teachers get their exam questions directly from their own lectures and class notes.  Step 5: Always do your homework. Homework will help you get points and help you to review the information. If you always do your homework then you have accumulated easy points what will only benefit you.  Step 6: Study for exams. Exams always account for the biggest percentage of your grade. Find a study method that works best for you. There are so many different methods such as; flashcards, reading the text, review notes, do practice questions, or do a mixture of all of them.  Tips: Research the professor before signing up for a class. Ask friends or go on ratemyprofessors.com and look them up. If everyone says that they are a horrible teacher, it would probably be a good idea to take a different professor.  Warnings: Do not take more credit hours than you can handle, especially if you plan on having a job.  Overloading yourself with work will only hurt you; it can cause you to do bad or even fail a class. Then you would have to take the class over costing you time and money.
