How to Make Eggnog

Intro: It isn’t the holidays without eggnog. This simple holiday treat can be store bought but it is much better homemade. Follow these steps to make your own eggnog at home.

Step 1: Gather your ingredients. You will need a dozen eggs, 1 ½ cups sugar, 1 cup of rum, 5 cups of milk, 1 and ½ pints of heaving whipping cream, 3-5 cups of bourbon, 1 and ½ cups of sugar, and ground nutmeg.

Step 2: Take your 12 eggs, separate the whites from the yolk, and put all the egg whites into a large bowl. Put the yolks into a separate bowl also.

Step 3: Beat the egg whites and mix in 3/4 cup of sugar. Mix the other ¾ cup of sugar into the egg yolks.

Step 4: Mix the egg yolks slowly into the egg whites.

Step 5: Pour 1 cup of rum into the eggnog mixture (optional).

Step 6: Gently stir in 5 cups of milk.

Step 7: Gently stir in 3 -5 cups of bourbon to your eggnog mixture (optional).

Step 8: Add ¾ a pint of heavy whipping cream. Whip the ¾ pint of whipping cream in a separate bowl until almost stiff and then fold it into the eggnog mixture.

Step 9: Grate some nutmeg on top of the mixture and enjoy!

Tips: To make non-alcoholic eggnog, just skip the rum and bourbon.

Make smaller or bigger batches by either cutting the amount of ingredients in half or by doubling them.

Warnings: Eggnog can contain a lot of alcohol and should always be consumed in moderation.

Never drink and drive.
