How to Deal with Negative Feedback on Your Writing

Intro: No matter how tough you are, it always hurts when you read some mean or negative comment that someone has posted on one of your articles or blog. When putting your writing out there for everyone to read, you will never earn 100 percent perfect ratings. There are always some people who do not appreciate your knowledge and expertise. Follow these steps to deal with negative feedback on your writing.

Step 1: You could try to not read comments and feedback on your work but we all know that is nearly impossible. Try reading the comments without taking them personally. You usually have no information about the person leaving the comment. They could be a crazy person who had a bad experience with the Atkins diet which is what you wrote about. Don’t immediately respond to negative feedback. Give yourself some time to cool off and find a positive way to respond to the commenter.

Step 2: Negative feedback will usually contain hateful comments from biased readers. The reader who left the comment will usually never see your point of view therefore arguing with them will never solve anything. Your response should be dependant on the comment they left. Did they say your grammar was bad, your facts were incorrect, or your opinion was idiotic? Don’t give a return comment with negative feedback. Maybe you should check your grammar or facts but usually people don’t leave hateful comments because of grammar. Try to determine some constructive feedback to leave the commenter.

Step 3: Keep on writing. You are a good writer and you know it. You write about topics you are familiar with and if you aren’t familiar with them, you do your research. If you do your research then you have nothing to worry about. I have written many articles which have gotten me bad reviews and good reviews and guess what!? I make just as much money off of the articles with slightly poorer ratings as I do with the highly rated articles! Keep on writing and keep on earning money.

Step 4: Let it go! Just let it go. Ignore the nasty comments and continue on with your day. You have to learn to let it not affect you. After you gain more experience writing, you will start to get better with negative feedback. You will become better at quickly dismissing the negative feedback and moving on to the next article. The reader who left a nasty comment is probably of lower intelligence anyway. Would you write a comment such as “This article sucks and you are wrong.” Absolutely not! You are better than that and you are better than the nasty comment leaver.

Step 5: If the person leaving the negative feedback actually is constructive in their criticism, then you may want to really think about what they said and try to improve on your article or blog post. Some people will actually leave valid comments which have very good points to consider. They may even post a link to a website which contradicts your article. In this case, you should investigate more into it but you should still not take it personally. Constructive comments help you become a better writer!

Tips: Let it go! Just forget about negative feedback and let it go.

Move on to the next article. Keep writing.

Bad articles make you money to.

You are a good writer!

Warnings: Negative feedback can hurt your feelings but you have to find a way to not let it affect you.

There will always be critics out there. Never take negative comments or ratings too seriously or you'll just end up angry.

Very good advice. Look at it as even if the comment was negative, hey you got a page view out of it!
