How to Create an Icon in Photoshop

Intro: Creating simple icons in Photoshop is very easy! Follow these steps to create an icon in Photoshop.

Step 1: Open Photoshop.

Step 2: Open the picture that you want to make your icon. Click on File and then select Open.

Step 3: Once your picture is open, click on File and then New. Set the dimensions to 100 x 100 pixels. Click on the original picture and on the toolbox; select the rectangle marquee tool which has blinking lines. Place this rectangle around your picture.

Step 4: Once the rectangle is around your picture, click Edit and then Copy.

Step 5: Paste the picture on the blank canvas. If it’s too big you should click on Edit and then select Free Transform. Resize the picture so it fits in the window.

Step 6: Now that you have resized the photo, click the arrow on the toolbox and click Apply.

Step 7: Click on Layer and then New and then Layer. Name the layer TEXT. Now you should click on the T on the toolbox and type in the text you want.

Step 8: Once you add text your icon is either complete or you can continue to customize it.

Tips: Customize your icon anyway you like!
