Intro: Tempur Pedic is the number one foam mattress brand in the world although they are the most expensive. The increasing popularity of foam mattresses has given other off-brand companies room to enter the market. Some of these off-brand mattresses are junk and some can be of high quality. Follow these steps to compare foam mattresses.  Step 1: Try to compare apples to apples. Many companies will try to sell their mattress by telling the amount of inches the foam is. You should always ask for the poundage rating of the layers. Some mattresses may use 6lb rated foam and some may use less or more.  Step 2: Buy USA made memory form. Not only will you support your country but you will be getting a better product. Foreign memory foams have the reputation of being lower quality. Make sure it is 100% USA made.  Step 3: Always read the fine print. Some companies will say there is 13 inches of foam. That may be true but how many inches are actually memory foam and not just normal foam? You need to look for the fine print or ask these questions when comparing foam mattresses.  Step 4: Although some companies may offer cheaper pricing, they make up for it by charging high shipping and delivery costs. Always look into shipping costs to see what the total cost of ownership will be for every foam mattress.  Step 5: Ask about warranties and return policies. How much is it to return the product? Do they pay for shipping or do you have to? Is it a full refund? How long is the manufacturers’ warranty?  Tips: Foam mattresses don’t really wear in until you use them for a month or two so don’t immediately send it back if you don’t like it.  Warnings: Do your research! Memory foam mattresses are expensive and you want it to last you for 20 years.
