Intro: Making a Christmas tree skirt has never been easier. Follow these simple steps to create your own tree skirt which extends about 3 feet from the base of your tree.  Step 1: Go to your local fabric store and select 4 yards of 45 inch wide felt. They usually will have some Christmas patterns or holiday print which will match the Christmas theme.  Step 2: Cut your four yard fabric in half to create two rectangular pieces of fabric. Pin the right sides of your fabric together. You need to sew a 36 inch seam along one 2 yard edge of fabric. The part that is not sewed will be the opening in your Christmas tree skirt.  Step3: Fold your fabric in half, lengthwise, where the seam ends so you will have a rectangle that is four layers thick.  Step 4: Take a yardstick and put one end at the top, seamed corner of your folded fabric. You can use your yardstick to mark out a circle which you should cut along.  Step 5: Make another circle mark that extends 3 inches around the top, seamed corner of your folded fabric. Cut along your marked lines to create the center opening of your Christmas tree skirt.  Step 6: You can decorate the fabric any way you like. Try adding fake fur, tassels, glitter, fringe, and etc.  Step 7: Now put your Christmas skirt around your tree and keep the cut edge in the back where it can’t be seen.  Tips: Using quality fabric and decorations can help make your Christmas tree skirt last for many years.  You could also buy a large round plastic table cloth with the fuzzy backing, decorate the fuzzy backing and use that as a Christmas tree skirt.  Warnings: If you are not experienced with sewing you should ask a more experienced person to do it for you.
