Intro: Although going to New York to join in on the biggest New Year celebration in the United States sounds fun, many people cannot afford the cost of going out on New Year’s Eve or can’t leave their children alone and therefore decide to spend New Year’s Eve at home. Follow these steps to learn how to make celebrating New Year’s Eve at home a special and exciting event.
Step 1: Decorate your living room or the area where you will all be watching the count down. You can decorate with streamers, confetti, and any decorations you can find at your local party store.
Step 2: If you have any other family or friends who are not going out on New Year’s Eve then invite them over. Cook a dinner for them and have drinks after but remember to keep the champagne on ice until the ball drops. Get the dinner out of the way early so you can all be ready for the end of the year celebration.
Step 3: To pass some of the time between dinner and the dropping of the ball, you can talk about all of your New Year’s resolutions. You can make bets on who will stick with their New Year’s resolution the longest.
Step 4: Starting pouring the champagne when it gets close to midnight. Let the children have pots and pans to bang on. Dim the lights and light some candles.
Step 5: Toast each other and find that special someone to give a peck when the ball drops and the clock strikes midnight.
Don’t kick your friends out right after the clock strikes midnight; let them hang out for a little while.
Warnings: Don’t drink and drive.
