Intro: Learn the proper techniques when feeding your canine companion. Feeding your dog the correct way can help him/her to live a much healthier and happier life.  Step 1: Wash out the bowl that you plan to feed your dog with.  Step 2: Read the bag of dog food to see exactly how much your dog should eat. You may have to weigh your dog to determine how much to feed him. Dog food backs usually recommend a certain amount of food based upon the dog’s weight. If the bag of dog food is not available you can adhere to certain guidelines. If the dog is very small then 1/4 of a cup, twice a day, should be adequate. If the dog is medium size then 1/2 to 3/4 a cup, twice a day. If the dog is large, then he/she should get at least 1 cup of food, twice a day.  Step 3: Feed your dogs at the same time everyday. Breakfast and dinner should be the same every day.  Step 4: Refill your dog’s water bowl every time it gets close to empty. If the water bowl is large and only gets close to empty once in awhile, you should dump it out and give your dog fresh water often.  Step 5: After feeding, you should let your dog outside. This will help potty train your pet and prevent accidents inside the house.  Tips: If you are unfamiliar with the dog you should be careful around him/her, especially around feeding time.  Don’t feed your dog’s human food!  Warnings: Some dogs are food aggressive and will snap at you if you put your hand near their food bowl while they are eating.  Giving your dog extra treats will only hurt them in the long run. Overfeeding dogs is common because they always will eat and therefore always appear hungry.
